GoodWe

GoodWe works, and it is the one connection here I would rather you read properly before setting up — because it needs your SEMS account password rather than a key you can revoke.

Tested against a simulator

Exercised against a SEMS portal simulator, including the login and station lookup. No physical inverter yet.

The caveat

GoodWe publish no proper API. There is no way to obtain a key that only reads your data, so Sunplug signs in with your SEMS portal account the same way their app does. Your password is encrypted at rest and used only to obtain a session, but it is a password: anyone holding it could do anything your account can.

Because this is GoodWe's private app interface rather than a published one, it can also change without notice. When it does, it stops working until I fix it.

If you can run the agent on your network, prefer it. GoodWe inverters speak Modbus locally, which needs no cloud account at all — that is on the list and worth waiting for if you are not in a hurry.

Connecting

  1. Settings → Equipment → GoodWe SEMS Portal
  2. Your SEMS account email and password
  3. Your plant ID — the powerStationId in your SEMS portal URL when viewing the plant
  4. Check it works, then save

When it does not work

"SEMS rejected the account or password"

Confirm the same details sign you in to the SEMS portal in a browser. If you changed your password recently, update it in Sunplug too.

It worked and then stopped

Either the password changed, or GoodWe changed their interface. Tell me and I will check which.

The plant ID is not obvious

Open the plant in the SEMS web portal and look at the address bar — it is the long identifier after powerStationId=.

Uncomfortable with the password? Say so — contact@sunplug.app — and I will tell you honestly where local Modbus support has got to.
